What's Covered

For the official exam description, see the College Board CLEP Principles of Marketing page.

Study Tips

  1. Keep the four Ps tied to specific business situations rather than memorizing them in isolation.
  2. Separate segmentation from positioning: one divides the market, the other defines the brand's place in the consumer's mind.
  3. Use scenario practice for channel strategy, pricing objectives, and promotion decisions.
  4. Review how ethics, technology, and globalization change marketing decisions instead of treating them as standalone topics.
  5. Expect distractors that sound reasonable but solve the wrong marketing problem.

How to Register

Register at clep.collegeboard.org. The exam costs $97 and can be taken at a testing center or remotely. Check with your college for its CLEP credit policy and minimum score requirements before registering. Military service members, their spouses, and eligible veterans may be able to take the exam at no cost through DANTES funding.
